Handmade Christmas

With Christmas presents being not really what your looking for, I've made a few gifts for my friends. Personally I'd love to receive something handmade!

Fan Art: Minecraft

'Merry Creeper Christmas' 2011
I made this collage card for my boyfriend.
For those who don't know Minecraft is an indie explorer game in a world made up of blocks. Creepers are best at creeping and exploding!

Triffids

Half way through reading John Wyndham's famous 1951 novel 'The Day of the Triffids'.
The descriptions throughout conjure up so much imagery of the triffids that I can't stop drawing them! I did a quick rough book cover today. As the cover of the book I'm reading is lacking to say the least. As below its a bunch of actors from the 2009 TV adaptation, could be for any distaster.

Craft Night

Craft night last week with the ladies from work. An evening well spent surrounded by books, knitting and crochet assortments. Exciting art plans on things to do and make in the future.
Of course I left with these delightful drawings by Callum age 6 that he let me take home!

Crochet makes me aggressive I managed to make what can only be described as a monobrow. Im now knitting something purple, I haven't decided what it is yet....

Urban Art

Sun, Sea and Spray 2011. Blackpool has brought new life to the town center!
40 Spray artists from 4 continents took part in the event. Although it would have been a little better as a comunity project or to support local artists...
I missed the live event at the weekend, managed to go for a look see today . Here are a few of my favourite.

Storytime

Today I found a new bookshop! Storytellers Inc
Its a cute independant family business that specialises in children's books. I think its my new favourite. Shame its out of town though.

I shall continue to creep around Waterstones although they keep moving the books around...

What's your name?

Maurice and Loretta.

At work, I occasionally talk to customers on the telephone.
As I have an unusual name I often get misheard.

These are two of the best names I've been called this week.

Obviously I had to draw them...

Toucan Time

I got excited about collage and colouring this toucan, after drawing him last week!

Still not quite sure why he reminds me of some bodies grandpa?

Colour is the new black?

I tend to avoid starting on a fresh page with a burst of colour especially 'pink'.
Why not? She's quite an attractive bird... Aye

Also reading up today found this very interesting: http://www.houseofillustration.org.uk/

Birds

I keep drawing slow and disliking what I've done. So here are some quick ink birds. I may develop some of these fellows for a personal project.
